I'm back again with another Simply Ways To... blog post! Originally I was going to do 10 ways for every post, but I thought 5 went well with this one, and it will just depend on the topic, so here are my 5 ways to get healthy!
(Again I really should be taking my own advice here hahaha)
1. One of the best and most important ways to get healthy starts with the foods you eat. Now I will admit I do eat my share of junk food, but I also balance it out with healthy meals. Your body will only run at its best if you give it the best. I understand at first it's hard to go straight into eating healthy and that is why you take baby steps and introduce healthier options into your meals. For example, for that late night snack instead of going for a bag of chips get a piece of fruit :) Trust me it will make you feel so much better and give you more energy!(There will be a separate blog post for more on eating healthy)
2. Now another major way to get healthy is to exercise. (Yea I really need to start taking my own advice on this one) I'm not saying you have to go enroll yourself into a gym membership, but at least try to do some little things. You could go for a walk or a run, or do a simple at home work out. There are plenty of apps out there with at home workout routines for you to follow, my favorite app that I actually use is the Nike Training Club app it lets you customize your own workout program and keeps you on track.
3. Drink plenty of water! Now I am known to not drink enough water and honestly it shows. Not drinking enough water causes a lot more problems than you think. It makes you tired, you have a lack of energy, causes headaches, and it even dries out your skin. You should drink half of your body weight in ounces per day, and if you sweat a lot you should drink more. So if you weigh 100 pounds you should drink 50 ounces of water.
4. A great way to help you get healthy is trying to stay off electronics. Now this is hard for me because I am constantly doing homework, editing videos, and writing blog posts on my laptop. And I know a lot of you use electronics very often as well, whether it's for work or just to scroll through social media. But it is always good to try to take a break from the electronics. You may not know but they send out harmful radiation, that isn't good for us. Also starring at those screens for too long isn't good for our eyes.
5. Try to destress once in a while. Whether you're stressed out from school, work, or just life in general it's always good to take some time and try to get rid of all the stress. I know that I get extremely stressed out during the school year, between juggling AP and honors classes and just trying to be a teenager. So one of the things I am going to start doing is yoga. Yoga is a great stress reliever and is good for your body. Building up stress isn't good for anyone so to get rid of it you can: read a book, do some yoga, or just get some fresh air!

Amazing Coconut Oil
The Many Uses of the Amazing Coconut Oil
Not many people realize how many uses coconut oil actually possesses. It can go from a hair care product to an ingredient in your favorite recipe, the options are endless. Here are a few of my favorite ways to use coconut oil...
Makeup Remover
Using coconut oil as a makeup remover isn't just easy but it is also very good for your skin. While removing the makeup the oil is also hydrating and moisturizing your skin. It's also pretty awesome that it's all natural so no harsh chemicals to damage your skin :D, that also makes it great to use on sensitive skin (also it won't burn your eyes!).
To use coconut oil to remove makeup is easy just splash some warm water on your face and put a small amount of the oil in your hand and then message it onto your face, like you would a face wash. Then after you a while you should look like a raccoon from all of your dissolved mascara and you can rinse your face and pat dry with a towel. (And let me tell you coconut oil really knows how to get through stubborn mascara)
Moisturizer
Coconut oil is an amazing natural moisturizer! No harsh chemicals yet it still gets the job done. But if you have really oily skin I wouldn't entirely recommend this just because it might make your skin a little too oily, which is never fun. It works perfectly for dry and normal skin types, or if that dry winter air is getting to ya!
To use coconut oil as a moisturizer simply put a small amount into your hand and massage into your face!
Hair Mask
We all know the effects damaging summer heat, chlorine from pools, and even dry winter air have on our hair, one way to bring the moisture and shine back to your locks is to use a hair mask. Coconut oil works as an amazing hair mask, the vitamins will strengthen your hair and the oil will help your hair retain moisture. And lets not forget your hair will smell amazing!
To use coconut oil as a hair mask grab a microwavable bowl and a couple of scoops of coconut oil (depending on how much hair you have, you could need more or less) and microwave until fully melted. Then use your hands to apply the oil into your hair and massage in. How long you leave it in will depend on how damaged your hair is, but it won't hurt to leave it in longer than needed. I usually leave it in for 30 minutes to an hour, but sometimes I leave it in for longer. After you have let your hair soak in the coconut goodness just rinse with hot water and wash your hair as usual. And bam! Silky smooth hair!
Teeth Whitener/Detox
Now I know how bad everyone wants camera ready pearly white teeth but sometimes we do some crazy things to get them. Coconut oil is a healthier more natural way to get better breath and whiter teeth! They call it oil pulling, it's gross and kinda time consuming but works wonders!
First put about 1-2 teaspoons of coconut oil into your mouth, then start swishing away. You need to do this for about 15-20 minutes(no longer or your body might start to reabsorb the toxins the oil is collecting) so I suggest watching some TV or reading a good book. Not only is the oil helping your teeth, but it's also removing toxins for your body! After 15-20 minutes spit out the oil into your sink or trashcan (oil can sometimes get stuck in the pipes of your sink) and rinse your mouth with warm water. REMEMBER DO NOT SWALLOW THE OIL!!! As I said it is removing toxins so you DO NOT want to put those back into your body! After rinsing brush your teeth as you normally would. Do this about once a day.

My name is Stevana or SimplyStevana, and this is my blog! I have decided to start this blog because I wanted to start sharing my thoughts and advice to all of you! My blog will be based off of a couple different categories such as beauty, fashion, advice, life and just some thoughts I might have.
